With BLE fast approaching, we picked the brains of regular attendees and exhibitors on how to make the most of the show. Up next is Dave Tovey, Head of Tinderbox, the digital media division of Beanstalk.
Dave, it’s always great to chat. When did you first attend BLE?
Back in 2007 when I was a “fresh-faced” licensing assistant working at Entertainment Rights. This year will be my 16th BLE!
And still fresh-faced! What’s been your best BLE memory across those 16 years?
I love BLE, so I have many great memories, but there was something special about returning to the show in 2021 with our dedicated Tinderbox stand. It was great to meet and reconnect with folks face-to-face after all that time.
Looked great. Now, what makes for a good BLE meeting?
Every meeting is different so maintain an open mind. Try to also keep a few slots open on your calendar, your next big opportunity could come from an unscheduled meeting.
Great tip. What’s your key aim for this year’s BLE?
Our Tinderbox clients – Microsoft, Activision, Atari, Ubisoft – will all be attending, so it’s a great opportunity to spend quality time with them and share their exciting updates with existing and future partners. Away from gaming, the full UK Beanstalk team will be at the show presenting updates on our clients including P&G, Diageo, Audi, Bentley, WW, Stanley Black & Decker and more… Please do reach out to us to organise a meeting.
Before we let you go, can you give us a BLE tip or recommendation? Could be a restaurant, pub, venue or show advice…
The Elizabeth Line has been a game changer for getting to the ExCeL, but if the line isn’t convenient for you, you can also get the London Cable Car directly there from North Greenwich/The O2. Soaring 90 meters high over the Thames is always an interesting way to start the day.
At the show, always pack a lip balm and hand sanitiser – I was doing this pre-2020… You’ve got to stay your best with all the trade show talk and greetings!
Finally, be sure to stop by The Fox pub – located just outside the ExCeL – for a post-show-day catch-up with the industry. Relationships and future opportunities are always made here.
Fantastic. And where is your stand this year?
We’re at C241.
Fab! Thanks again Dave.
