“Corto Maltese was chosen for this capsule because he reflects the alluring and adventurous spirit of GUESS,” said Paul Marciano, Chief Creative Officer of GUESS.
GUESS is readying to launch a menswear collection based around the comic brand Corto Maltese next year.
The maritime-inspired capsule collection spans tees, shirts, bombers, outerwear, sweaters, denim, chinos and hats. This includes select pieces that utilise Hugo Pratt’s illustrations of Corto Maltese, alongside items inspired by the seafaring character’s wardrobe and maritime lifestyle.
“Corto Maltese was chosen for this capsule because he reflects the alluring and adventurous spirit of GUESS,” said Paul Marciano, Chief Creative Officer of GUESS.
“He is elegant, intriguing and cultured. I have always enjoyed Pratt’s beautiful watercolors, which are true works of art; it has been a pleasure to bring together Corto Maltese with GUESS.”
The deal was managed by Maurizio Distefano Licensing, the agency that oversees Corto Maltese’s Italian licensing program.
“We are thrilled that GUESS picked Corto Maltese as the star of its capsule collection,” said Maurizio Distefano, President of MDL agency.
“GUESS is one of the most famous fashion brands and Corto Maltese has become part of the culture in many parts of the world. We are sure that this amazing collection will delight everyone involved and be a big success with fashion lovers.”
The collection will be available both in selected GUESS stores and on www.guess.eu from February 2023.
