“Our goal was to kick-off his 60th anniversary with a collaboration that captured Spider-Man’s timeless and effortlessly cool DNA; we couldn’t think of a better partner than Kith to deliver on this through their creative lens,” said Paul Gitter, SVP at Marvel Consumer Products.
Kith is celebrating the 60th anniversary of Spider-Man with an apparel collection, a pop-up shop and a special Kith x Marvel Spider-Man comic.
This comic features an original storyline that ‘fuses Kith elements with the Marvel Multiverse’ and cameos from Iron Man, Doctor Octopus and Kith founder Ronnie Fieg. The comic also includes previews of upcoming unreleased Kith collections.
Archival artwork from the Spider-Man comics feature across adults and kids apparel, with the range including sweaters, hoodies and a range of washed long sleeve and short sleeve tees.
From Friday, July 15th, Kith is also hosting a pop-up experience in Queens, New York. Designed by Kith and Marvel Entertainment, this shop will not only stock the collection but will also carry a curated selection of vintage Spider-Man memorabilia.
Kith and Marvel are also hosting a pop-up in Selfridges with a space dedicated to the collaborative comic book and adult’s collection.
“I collected comic books growing up, and the one that sparked my passion was a Spider-Man comic I bought in 1990,” said Ronnie Fieg, Founder and CEO of Kith.
“I was really honoured that Marvel came to us to launch the 60th anniversary of such an iconic character. As a brand, it’s important to me that we can work on collections like this that are based on my own personal nostalgia. In that way we speak to both ends of the spectrum – the older customer, like me, as well as the younger generation who love and relate to similar things.”
Paul Gitter, SVP, Marvel Consumer Products, added: “For six decades, Spider-Man has been one of Marvel’s most iconic characters, leaving a lasting impact on pop culture and fans around the world.
“Our goal was to kick-off his 60th anniversary of him with a collaboration that captured Spider-Man’s timeless and effortlessly cool DNA, and we couldn’t think of a better partner than Kith to deliver on this through their creative lens. The end result is a collection for both the Spider-Man fan and the style-conscious consumer, and one that continues to propel Marvel’s leadership within the lifestyle space.”
