“As our first official apparel collaboration for the James Brown Estate, Roots of Fight has created an innovative streetwear collection,” said Norman Perry, President of Perryscope Productions.
Perryscope Productions – the global licensing agent for the James Brown Estate – has secured an apparel deal with high-end streetwear firm Roots of Fight for the ‘Godfather of Soul’.
Roots of Fight’s James Brown collection spans t-shirts, hoodies, sweatpants, and socks. The range pays tribute to the newly unearthed and previously unheard “We Got to Change” – which is also the title track of a new EP. The launch also coincides with the premiere of the James Brown: Say It Loud two-part documentary on A&E network, beginning on February 19th.
“It’s an honour to represent the legendary James Brown, one of the most influential and iconic figures in music history,” said Norman Perry, President of Perryscope Productions.
“As our first official apparel collaboration for the James Brown Estate, Roots of Fight has created an innovative streetwear collection inspired by and reflective of The Godfather of Soul’s immense contribution to the world of music.”
Roots of Fight Owner Natalie Dimbleby added: “Adding James Brown to the Roots of Fight Pantheon of Ground Breakers and Game Changers was a natural fit and we are grateful for the opportunity to help tell some of the incredible history and stories of such an Icon.
“We were honoured to drop our first collection with JB and pay tribute to his historic concert at the Zaire Music Festival in 1974 that was part of the Rumble in Jungle. Now to launch this new capsule showcasing his unearthed, never-before-heard track, “We Got To Change” – and it coinciding with the release of the Say It Loud documentary series – is very exciting.”
Perryscope Productions is developing a worldwide licensing and e-commerce program for James Brown across multiple categories. Other new licensees for the brand includes C-Life, Liquid Blue, Perri’s Socks and Leathers, Goodie Two Sleeves, Barriers and C&D Visionary.
