“We went through dozens of sketches and stylisations because we wanted to make sure that we captured E.T.’s sweet, child-like innocence through the sculpt,” said Jan Jauregui, manager of product design at Mattel.

The set features three Little People figures styled like E.T., Elliott and Gertie from the 1982 film.

Kuwahara’s BMX became iconic when it appeared in the 1982 movie, and the 40th anniversary model will recreate the look of the original model.
