Brands had an impact in Google’s ‘Year in Search’, with ‘how to become a fighter pilot’ being a popular search thanks to Top Gun: Maverick.
Google has revealed its ‘Year in Search’, detailing top trending searches of the year, and brands populate 2022’s report.
Wordle, the popular daily word puzzle that’s now owned by The New York Times, was the top trending Google search globally. While not overly licensed yet, Wordle did secure a board game partner earlier this year, with Hasbro launching Wordle: The Party Game.
Elsewhere, brands made their mark with ‘how to become a fighter pilot’ being a popular search thanks to Top Gun: Maverick, alongside people Googling how to learn several pop culture-inspired languages, specifically Minion, High Valyrian and Klingon.
In terms of movie searches, the top five were Thor: Love and Thunder, Black Adam, Top Gun: Maverick, The Batman and Encanto, while the most Googled TV shows were Euphoria, House of the Dragon, Moon Knight, The Watcher and Inventing Anna.
